FORT CAMPBELL, KY – Yorktown Systems Group, Inc. (Yorktown) announces the selection of Michael Trotter as the LREC Employee of the 3rd Quarter of 2018.

Michael Trotter serves as a Theater Engagement and Regional Expertise Instructor for the Special Operations Forces for Language, Regional Expertise, and Culture Instruction (LREC) program in Fort Campbell, KY. He is praised as an exemplary instructor and team member by his students, peers, and leadership. His hard work, dedication, and innovative contributions continuously advance the LREC program objectives.

Michael has been a true mentor to all members of the team. He has an extensive knowledge base of the United States Central Command, as well as instructing students using innovative pedagogical techniques. He has helped all members of the team implement more effective and creative ways of presenting material, and he is always willing to assist other instructors either in-person, or via Video Tele Conference. Michael has developed top-notch instructional content critical to giving students a better understanding of both the region to which they deploy and their missions. The content is a perfect mix of culture-general and culture-specific material involving both classroom and external evaluation instruction and scenarios. His current instruction of culture-general classes hybridized with language has been set by his command as the model the team uses to develop all instructional content.

Yorktown Announces the TEAMS Employee of the 3rd Quarter of 2018, Ms. Amy Smith

DAHLGREN, VA – Yorktown Systems Group, Inc. (Yorktown) announces the selection of Amy Smith as the TEAMS Employee of the 3rd Quarter of 2018.

Amy Smith serves as an Executive Administrative Assistant in Dahlgren, Virginia, supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) through the Technical Engineering Advisory and Management Services (TEAMS) Office Administration program. Amy provides outstanding support to MDA by facilitating and coordinating departmental moves. Her dedication, expertise, and hard work makes this effort seamless to the workforce and stakeholders. Amy goes above and beyond to ensure the process succeeds behind the scenes and has little or no impact to the personnel she is supporting. Not only do her co-workers appreciate her outstanding performance, her stakeholders are equally impressed as she was the nominated representative for the MDA Contractor of the Year for the 15th Annual MDA Awards Ceremony for the department she supports.

Her proficiency in tasking and managing staff actions is exemplary, as she coordinates among various offices at Dahlgren. In addition, her support is consistently praised by co-workers and customers. With her in-depth understanding of MDA’s mission and programs, she skillfully applies her knowledge in her support of the customer. Amy is a key employee with a reputation as a professional whose advice is instrumental in seeing actions through to successful completion. Yorktown Announces the Corporate Employee of the 3rd Quarter of 2018, Ms. Kimberly Walker

HUNTSVILLE, AL – Yorktown Systems Group, Inc. (Yorktown) announces the selection of Kimberly Walker as the corporate headquarters Employee of the 3rd Quarter of 2018. Kim Walker started working for Yorktown in August 2017 and based on her stellar performance was quickly promoted to Director of Program Control.

Chief Financial Officer, Suzanne Mathew, recalls Kim’s contributions to the program control team within her first year: “Kim has had a remarkable impact on the billing process. She built and trained a team that has achieved an impressively aggressive billing schedule, pushing out preliminary reports and accurate invoices to customers for approval in the first week of the month. She reduced the billing cycle for multiple programs by streamlining the supplemental reporting. Her relationship with our various customers is invaluable and has given them additional confidence in the cost reporting for their applicable contracts. She has built detailed projection reports for Yorktown’s largest programs that is used by operations management, contracts, and HQ staff.”

Kim is dedicated and determined to maintain clean and reconciled reporting for Yorktown and ultimately, our customers. She strives to improve processes, goes the extra mile, and works well with both direct and indirect employees. She does not hesitate to bring up areas she sees needs improvement in accuracy and efficiency. Kim’s work shows her dedication to perfection. She is determined to meet deadlines but is not afraid to communicate when the timeline is not realistic, which is a leadership quality highly valued at Yorktown. Kim can be relied upon to communicate any potential issue and recommended a path of resolution for accomplishing the final task. She is a motivated self-starter and determined to meet the task requirements. The program control team all agree she performs above and beyond expectations.

Mariano “Rocco” Wecer serves as a Concepts Advisor supporting the Asymmetric Warfare Group (AWG) in Fort Meade, MD.

Mariano is an exceptional Yorktown employee, and an invaluable asset to the customer and his peers. His exemplary performance in his role is recognized by everyone with whom he interacts. Mariano has been serving as a squadron lead advisor on an important program.

In this role, he has developed partnerships with senior personnel within the industry, other agencies, and the US Naval Academy. Based on his knowledge and expertise, he was personally requested by one of the squadrons to deploy to Europe to assist a unit during their JMRC rotation. His performance during the mission earned him accolades from the supported advisors and the rotational unit.

Senior Operational Advisor, Mike Akridge, states, “As word of his outstanding advice to the rotational unit spread, he was requested by AFRICOM, a 4-star Combatant Command, to provide a briefing to their staff. After reviewing the read-ahead material for his briefing, he was moved to a larger conference room to accommodate the numerous personnel from AFRICOM that wanted to attend. His presentation was extremely well received and earned the unit praise for the depth of knowledge that we were able to provide.”
