Huntsville, AL – Yorktown Systems Group, Inc. (YSG), a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), is pleased to announce Neena Bansal as the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) Employee of the 4th Quarter. Neena joined YSG in August 2016 as a French Language Instructor at FSI, the Department of State’s primary foreign language and cultural training for military personnel and government employees.
Neena has been recognized by her students and peers for her work ethic and passion. In addition to her classroom instruction, she serves as a facilitator in Staff Training, sharing her experiences to aid others in their professional development, and volunteers to create learning modules for the FSI Innovation Laboratory, a new training program where students interact with virtual scenarios. She also helps conduct mini immersions, where students can experience ethnic foods, build comradery, and practice their language skills in a more natural, outside-the-classroom environment. Additionally, peers selected Neena to participate in the training program to become a Language Consultant, and she recently received her certification.
Steve Sabia, FSI Program Manager, says that “Neena is always quick to volunteer for a challenging assignment. In addition to her work mentoring new instructors, her positive attitude and teamwork set the standard for other YSG employees working at FSI.”
Neena’s father was a diplomat, allowing her to learn French in francophone countries such as Madagascar where she received her degree. She began her graduate studies in Senegal and completed her master’s in France. Neena has been teaching French for the past 17 years.
